About Parisa
Clients describe me as down-to-earth, compassionate, and collaborative. They’re surprised to find themselves laughing in therapy. I approach each person I meet with curiosity, empathy, and openness. When a client feels unconditionally accepted, then I’ve done my job.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I had the privilege of spending time with young people in settings like summer camps, hospital play rooms, immigrant housing projects, after-school programs, classrooms, and developmental psychology research labs.
Before starting my private practice in 2019, I spent five years providing adolescent and family therapy at Ophelia’s Place, an organization dedicated to empowering girls. While there, I developed a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ young people, and facilitating trauma healing groups.
Outside of the therapy room, you can find me writing, immersed in a graphic novel, and cooking. I delight in time in nature with my wife, friends, family, and dog.
The technical stuff: I have an MS in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon, and a BA in Psychology with a focus in developmental psychology from Western Washington University. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LF60946668) and Approved Clinical Supervisor in Washington State. I’m a member of several associations, including American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Washington Mental Health Counselors Association, and National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network.
